If the photo isn’t great then the
portrait will suffer!

Use these tips to get a great photo for your portrait:

  • Filters - do not use filters which alter the colours - it makes them look unnatural and hard to capture a true likeness.

  • Take a close up photo - so it’s possible to zoom in and see small details without it blurring.

  • Get closer to your pet if possible, rather than using the zoom in function!

  • Stay in focus - it shouldn’t be blurred or out of focus (portrait mode will put some of your pet out of focus - so avoid this if possible).

  • Use natural light - it’s the best way to achieve a colour likeness and be able to see all the lovely small details!

  • Try to avoid really strong sunlight though! You need a bright but overcast day ideally.

  • You can sit your pet inside next to a window, you want the sunlight to be on your pets face rather than behind them!

  • Send original photos - not downloaded from social media - as this reduces the image quality and it needs to be as high as possible!

  • If possible take the photo at the same level as your pet.
